<p>So I&#8217;m a shallow guy and don&#8217;t think about issues such as this. Heck, when I first titled this post, I spelled &#8220;philanthropy&#8221; with an &#8220;ie&#8221; at the end. Thankfully though there are others that do think of more heady stuff than I. The blog <a href="http://clevelandblog.foundationcenter.org/my_weblog/2008/04/arbys-buys-wend.html">Philanthropy Front and Center brings up an excellent question</a> about what will happen with Wendy&#8217;s charity monies now that it was recently purchased by Arby&#8217;s (did you know that Arby&#8217;s stands for &#8220;America&#8217;s Roast Beef, Yes Sir!&#8221;?). The blog points out that Wendy&#8217;s gave $800,000 to charities in 2006, while Arby&#8217;s gave away $2,630,842. Hopefully, the merger won&#8217;t impact negatively with Wendy&#8217;s giving. Especially given the fact that they are such a good corporate citizen locally.</p>
