A hodgepodge post

Ugh. It’s been a while since my last post. Sorry, life interrupted. So forgive the hodgepodge, but here goes:

I managed to put up two new aerial golf course maps: Cooks Creek Golf Club and Longaberger Golf Club.

Lookie here. Cincinnati wants streetcars too.

Speaking of Cincinnati a/k/a Cinci, a/k/a the ‘Nati, a/k/a the Queen City (sheesh, sounds like they have a bit of an identity and/or branding crisis), they have responded to my Startup Weekend post and are trying to match us vote for vote. But those punks can’t match C-Bus! As of this writing, we’re ahead of them by 50 votes (204 vs 154). Thanks Columbus for voting.

So I e-mailed Ben Marrison, Joe Blundo and Tim May the link to my Dispatch Twitter post. I know that one of them read it. But they did not deem me worthy to respond. Bastards! ;)

Note to Dispatch. Promote your Twitter account on your website and you may get more than 18 followers. Do I have to tell you everything?

Speaking of the Dispatch. You know they have some blogs. But they tend to only link to other media types. Why not send out some link love to the finer Columbus based blogs. Or are they just stuck up?

I’m giddy because it’s late.

If you haven’t already done so, register for PodCampOhio. I hear they invited iJustine.

iJustine

Of course, I have no idea if she’s coming.

Cincinnati field trip – second stop Myra’s Dionysus

Myra’s Dionysus

In search of more food in the University of Cincinnati campus area, I stumbled upon Myra’s Dionysus (not as hard as it looks to say). Okay, I had to look and figure out who exactly Dionysus was. According to Wikipedia, Dionysus is the greek god of wine, representing the intoxicating power of wine but also its social and beneficial influences. The Romans referred to him as Bacchus. Myra (the owner) apparently did not name her restaurant, Dionysus, to suggest that wine is a significant part of the menu (I didn’t notice any such offering at lunch). Rather, “I wanted to signal that it was a somewhat Greek restaurant but with other offerings from around the world.”

FineRepast Cinci field trip: first stop Pomodori’s Pizzeria

FineRepast.com took a recent weekend trip to the University of Cincinnati and began their dining tour at Pomodori’s Pizzeria. Pomodori’s is an institution on UC’s campus. Located right off of West McMillan Street, it’s right in the heart of the action. Pomodori’s probably does most of its business making pizza pies. When I walked in, two pizza makers were displaying their dexterity tossing pizza in the air. Despite their penchant for pizza, I went against the grain and tried their Chicken Parmesan on top of spaghetti. I also had their greek salad and a glass of shiraz.

The Golf Club at Stonelick Hills

On the recommendation of a friend, we headed out to Stonelick Hills Golf Club in Cincinnati, Ohio (a bit of a hike from the 270 but well worth it). Even though the course was just in its fourth year of existence, my friend promised a great golfing experience. And you know what? He was right. We opted to play from the blue tees. Stonelick also offers two sets of more challenging tees: the black tees from which the course plays 7145 yards and gold tees from which the course plays 6817. From the blues, we were looking at a manageable 6483 yards. Stonelick also offers white tees playing at 5841 yards.
