You need to check out Sugar Inc Cupcakes & Tea Salon! They are across from Tucci's which I love. They have the most amazing cupcakes I have ever had and they are ORGANIC! Love it!! My roomie had one of their salads and loved it- I haven't tried one yet but plan on it. They also have a huge tea selection- I had the Mojito and it was delish :) I'm looking for a good asian restaurant if anyone has ideas. Definitely check out sugar inc though!

  • wyliemac

Yea, you're right. I've been there twice and love their cupcakes. I haven't yet tried their food.

There's Moretti's in UA which is some great Italian. There's also a Figlio in UA at Fishinger and Riverside, which has the same great menu as its "Grandview" sibling, which is actual in Columbus. And Spagio in Grandview has a killer brunch. I know there's lots of great eats up in Powell as well. If you're based in Dublin, I'd stick with restaurants on the NW side. While it's fair to punish Columbus, it's also wrong to contribute to the sprawl culture that is endemic here in Central Ohio any more than is needed. Keep it local!

One of the ultimate breakfast places in town is located in Shawnee Hills – Hellas. Great family owned establishment.

Think you had a bad day, think again. "In an attempt to generate new revenue, the Associated Press has partnered with iCopyright to charge licensing fees for quotes as short as five words." Hmm, I've got a feeling that certain people underground are or will be having a much worse day/year/decade.

  • Andy R

Well what do you know, after coming up from being underground, it appears they've mended their ways. Amazing how one person can change the entire look of an 800 lb gorilla.

  • Phil Jackson

are you freaking still talking about the ticket? Move on man. Let it go. After all. it was your fault.

  • Andy R

Ben Parr from Mashable weighs in: "The company’s complaint is that blogs and news aggregators (i.e. Google News) are taking its content and making all the advertising revenue. What they forget is that they provide a great deal of traffic and attention to content creators in the process." That argument sure sounds familiar but the truth is that blogs and news aggregators provide little if any traffic to the main source and instead end up reaping the benefits of ripping off content through increased traffic to their own site and advertising revenue.

  • wyliemac

Aw man, me and "move on" don't get along in the same sentence. Yea, I do know it was my fault, but adding the bit about the ticket was just for effect.

  • wyliemac

Hey Andy. We need to go out to lunch sometime soon.

Luce in Powell is good. Moretti's on Sawmill is really good. Starliner Diner in Hilliard. Thai Orchid on Sawmill.

Forgot, the best brunch buffet might be Worthington Inn.

  • rOCKY

This coming from the same guy who once said he did not mind paying an extra $200 so dollars a year under the Obama tax plan… HA!

  • Pete

We hope you come back to Columbus again soon!

  • archanoid

Another recommendation fro Starliner Diner in Hilliard

  • wyliemac

Oh, I'll be back. Nothing like a good rant. I haven't done that in a while on this site.

  • vmdoug

Wait, you're complaining about Columbus income taxes? Have you EVER WORKED in Dublin? I used to work on the wrong side of the sign just down from your office and I have to tell you, Dublin taxes freakin' stink! Talk about not getting a say in how much you're taxed…I'm a Columbus resident and I'll remain one, I don't have kids so I prefer the super low Columbus property taxes over the ultra-high Dublin taxes too. When you add up all the taxes you definitely pay MORE in DUBLIN than in Columbus…for some it's worth it, for me it's not. Just sayin'

  • wyliemac

I agree that Dublin property taxes are high. But I had a choice in that matter when I chose to live here. For families, it's definitely a great place to be. With respect to Dublin income tax, it's 2%, and I get a credit for what I pay for Columbus tax.

  • wyliemac

Well, I take that back a bit. I just checked the property records in the neighborhood that I grew up in here in Columbus, and the taxes are somewhat comparable. Yes, Dublin taxes are a bit higher, but the spread is somewhat on par with the extra Columbus taxes that I'm going to have to pay. So in essence, now Columbus residents are paying Dublin like taxes without the benefits of awesome city services. 😉

  • wyliemac

You know I'm conflicted. A former Republican trying to fit in a Democrat's skin. But there are some distinctions: 1) the Obama tax plan didn't directly affect me since I make nowhere near $250,000, 2) if I did make that amount, the incremental increase was not much in comparison to what I were making, 3) I had a vote in the matter, and 4) I did not have a vote in the Columbus tax plan but was directly affected.

  • Guest

So you're sticking it to the city of Columbus by boycotting specific Columbus businesses? That makes no sense at all. I'd wager that many Columbus business owners live in other burbs/cities and I'm sure many of them were opposed to the income tax increase too. You stick it to em!

  • Guest

You also have a choice in where you work too.

  • Guest

you are still stalking columbus undergruond just because a bunch of people on that web site doesn't like you?!? how old are you again?!?!?!!!

  • wyliemac

I didn't say I was boycotting Columbus. I said that given a choice, I'd pick an indie restaurant in Columbus. A conscious decision.

  • wyliemac

    What a great suggestion.

  • Ryan Bauer

You don't make 250k a year? Jeez, your poor. How are we even friends?

  • wyliemac

It must be my charming personality and you slumming. Are you back in cbus?

  • Guest

OK. You are only somewhat boycotting then. All nitpicking aside this is still a silly gesture that does absolutely nothing to address your concerns.

  • Columbus Insurance

Couldn't agree with you more – that tax increase was insane and I am not feelin it either. Good luck ever rolling that one back.
