I like to let the grass get reasonably high before mowing it down, saves gas and once the June-August months come, it keeps the grass looking thick and green. Everyone else in my neighborhood likes to cut their lawns at gulf course height and when the dry summer months come they end up having to water their lawns or let them turn brown.

I have an almost identical mower, same engine you describe but it's a Craftsman. I can mow the lawn twice on one tank of gas and I have a decent size yard, takes just over an hour to mow. I've only used the bag catcher once, my wife wanted the clippings for compost. I replaced the blade this spring and use the compost option, the lawn looks like it's bagged, but it is not.

My tips, put your settings on medium height in the spring, highest height in the summer and only cut when you need to. Save money, your time, the environment and have a nice looking lawn without the need to water to boot.

My parents now obsess about their lawn. When I visit them, it is a main topic of conversation for them, along with how a neighbor doesn't take care of his lawn. Fun times!

I don't mind mowing, but I'm glad the twice a week season is over.

I actually enjoy mowing. But that's because I have a riding mower.

Ugh. I hate mowing the lawn. Never liked it as a kid, and I still don't like it now. That being said, I recently blogged about my first mower purchase and it's been fun to use these first few weeks. Although I can see it becoming a chore once again when the newness finishes wearing off. Anyway, once a week is good enough for me. ;)
