Update on Police State Weekend

Last week, Delaware County was running their “No Refusal Weekend” when drivers suspected of being impaired by alchohol would have their blood forcibly drawn from their bodies if they exercised their statutory right to refuse a breath test back at the station.

It is interesting that they did not choose the weekend of the Memorial Tournament, when there would be a great deal more drivers in the area who would be a great deal more likely to have consumed alcohol. But appararently, the county did not relish the possibility of pulling over well-to-do fans of professional golf who would have the resources to fight such police state tactics, and instead concentrated their fire on the average citizen who would have to just knuckle under and learn to like it.

So much for safety concerns. The weekend which would feature a bunch of inebriated doctors, stockbrokers, and real estate developers gets a pass. But the weekend where the average joes are out driving gets picked.

No kidding. I live just south of Muirfield on Dublin Rd. Funny about their timing isn't it. If they were serious about cracking down, then this would be the weekend to do it. There are nothing but idiots out this week, thinking the rules don't apply to them. We don't let our teenage daughter drive much during this week and week. We also alter our jogging and biking route so we are not on the MUP along Dublin Rd.
