I’m going to start keeping track of the idiots who call that are just salespeople or telemarketers and posting them here. I guess it’s my little way of fighting back.

I often google phone numbers as they show up on my caller id. I can do it in a few seconds or about the time it takes the phone to ring twice. It’s much more satisfying to find out in advance whose calling then to have to find out by answering the phone. My cell number is my primary number. Years ago, I got fed up with land lines and phone companies like AT&T and SBC charging me outrageous amounts of money for a land line and a fax line. Of course, by making my cell number public, I’m subject to these calls more and more. But with a cell phone, I’m always in the office whether that’s in my car, at lunch, or at the golf course. I also ditched traditional fax service altogether and use efax through efax.com. Now I can get faxes wherever I have internet connection. No more running to the office on a Sunday night just to pick up a fax. And no more wasted paper.

2/7/08 -11:43 am- Hey there’s more 571-261-0103 apparently has a record as well. This one is from Haymarket, Virginia. I’m calling back now. Message to be put on their company do not call list. Okay, I’ll do it but I think it’s just a way for them to confirm my number. They’ve confirmed me for their do not call list but now it’s a removal from their “preferred caller list”. Funny how when you google their number, their company web site doesn’t come up. Probably is more evidence that they are not a legit company. Wonder if they realized that I just confirmed them for addition to my idiot list.

1:41 pm not two hours later 571-261-0103 calls me back with a prerecorded message about how I can get out of credit card debt. So much for being removed from their do not call list or preferred customer list. Next time I call one of these numbers back, it will be with my Skype line.

2:20 pm I just called them back a dozen or so time on my Skype line. You’re supposed to hit 2 to be taken off their call list. I hit 1 and it did the same thing. So the next time, I hit 8 and it took me to their directory. I hit 1 to access mailbox 1 and then it requested a pin #. I tried a few and 55# worked. I got another message saying that all operators were currently busy and to leave a message. So I left them an appropriate message. One that cannot be shown to decent folks.

2/7/08 - 1:00 pm - It won’t stop. 321-504-7429. Calling back now. “You have reached a number that has been disconnected or no longer in service.” Interesting and pretty tricky. They are either masking their caller id with a false number or set up a nice little recording to foil people like me. Nevertheless, you have made the Idiot list. Thank you for playing.

2/8/08 - I’m waiting for the next victim to call me. Where are all the phone solicitors today? Playing golf?

2/11/08 - 6:05 p.m. = 808-211-5987 - “If you’d like to earn additional income from home please press 2 and leave your name and number so that we can call you.”

2/18/08 - 4:04 pm 877-803-0008 from Portfolio Recovery Associates to speak with a debt collector in an attempt to collect a debt - yeah whatever

2/18/08 - 10:51 am 765-331-0000 - appears to be a roofing contractor out of Hartford City, Indiana ?? wtf?!

2/18/08 - The idiots who email me to call them 8:31 pm “Please call Betty Banks @ (619) 644-1564 for information on $30 photographic magnetic signs and more” and this is from Jay Markoff (jaym@mpbanner.com). Hey Jay, go to hell and quit emailing me, you pest!
