Sharon Woods Metro Park
Fall colors at Sharon Woods Metro Park from the Observation Deck

Sunday morning is always a good time for a walk, and on this particular Sunday morning we headed to Sharon Woods Metro Park. We used to rent bikes and ride there as kids. I remember blowing through a stop sign and broadsiding another biker which sent me flying over the handlebars. I returned to Sharon Woods on July 27, 1985 to run a half marathon there. After running the first mile in about 5 minutes, the remaining 12.1 miles were sheer hell. You would think that I would remember the park well after running around it almost a half dozen times but I don’t remember Shrock lake. And I don’t remember all the oak trees. They could rename this place Oak Haven park because of their numbers. Perhaps, I have blocked out Sharon Woods Metro as a result of these experiences. Well, today I had a good one so perhaps me and Sharon are starting to hit it off.

Check out Sharon Woods before fall is gone.
