Tigertree to OSU students – Come on down

The shop owners of Tigertree recently asked on its blog, why don't more OSU students go to the Short North. They then ask what they, meaning the Short North, can do to draw more students to the Short North.

Considering that the two are very close in proximity, it does seem like a natural for OSU students to make the short trip. However, for those without cars, maybe they don't want to walk through the neighborhoods between OSU and the Short North. Now, I really don't know if that area is safe or not, but my wife tells me that it's not a very nice area. But, she lived on campus in the early 90's. Which is ages ago. Anyways, here's my idea. Pedicabs. Students ferrying students for tips. A lot of metropolitan areas have them. I've taken one in San Diego to take me from the Convention Center to the Gaslamp district. It's a pretty relaxing way to get from one place to another. And they're perfect to bridge those short, but a bit too long to walk, gap between places. I know there's a company in Columbus. I just can't remember the name of it. Anyways, that's my idea.

  • I have considered all of these reasons. Do students get a free all Cota pass, or just get to ride Cota on campus? If the later is what is happening, I was thinking we could start a validating system almost like parking garages, and we pay you back for your bus fare if transport is the problem. It's really only like a mile and a half, which for most cities is not much of a walk. We need to work on changing the minds of people in Columbus towards walking/biking.
I assume you read that post on Columbusing yesterday about the bike swap program. Someone needs to start that for real. If everything I had wasn't tied up in Tigertree/Maxine, Dear I would be all over it.
