Hey Live Earth Organizers, there’s more site locations besides the usual suspects

by wyliemac on July 7, 2007

Okay, I admit it.  I’m bitter.  While I agree with the concept and teachings of Live Earth, why the hell do they have to hold their global concerts from all the usual places, e.g., New York, London, Tokyo, etc.  Why not Columbus?  Yea, I know.  Stop laughing.  But seriously, I had no idea this thing was going on until early this week.  And don’t talk to me about Live 8.  I found out about it with 30 minutes left in the television broadcast.

That’s the problem with these worldwide events.  People in far away places like Columbus don’t get clued in.  So why not have a couple of venues in the not so usual places.

Disclaimer: yea, yea, yea! Whatever, it could just be that I’m clued out.  But don’t let that distract from the fine idea of Columbus hosting a Live Whatever concert.

Tina, thanks for the welcome. While I'm not new to blogging, I'm new to Columbus blogging.

I certainly agree with you that organizers don't host their big concerts here because of economics. I was just basically complaining.

Anyways, I think the organizers could still do smaller events throughout the country to make us feel more included.

Despite my grumpiness, I am throughly enjoying the coverage on Bravo, NBC and Sirius.
  • Welcome to the local blogosphere, Wyliemac! I certainly didn't scoop anyone on the Live Earth concert, but a link to local house parties was posted on my blog earlier this week.

Why don't organizers have big concerts in the Heartland? Bottomline, because the Big Money isn't in Central Ohio. If you were setting up a concert and wanted to maximize your attendance and profits, would you rather attract attendees from a population of more than 8 million (NYC) or a population of about 700K (Clumbs)?
